SUPER DETAILING KITS

Prior to scratch building models I spent many a happy year making plastic model kits. I then started trying to incorporate pieces that I scratch built to make the model look more realistic....and in turn this gave me the modelling experience to progress to totally scratch building.

Here are a few examples of super detailing my model kits.........

Here is a Junkers Jumo 211D engine from a 1:24 scale Airfix kit of a JU87B ,which I made into a cutaway display model. Many extra parts were added including pipes and wires using reference material.

As you can see.....I have cut away the fuselage side to expose the detailed engine

Here is a view of the starboard fuel tank and gun bay. Before super detailing this was just two wing halves!

Here I have super detailed this Merlin engine in a 1:24 scale Spitfire Mk1.....this took me over 6 months to complete!
