SCRATCH BUILT MODELS
TOTALLY SCRATCH BUILDING MY MODELS
As previously mentioned....scratch building is my passion!.........
I would say that I am from the "old school" of model making, meaning that......

1. I don't have any specialized tools.
2. I don't use any CAD programmes for designing or making parts.
3. Other than bought balsa/hard wood and plastic card...the materials I use are mainly found lying around.

THE MAIN MATERIALS I USE FOR SCRATCH BUILDING MY MODELS...SCRAP WIRE,PLASTIC AND BALSA WOOD..............
I find that I am learning new techniques all the time with each and every project I take on......
Here is a cockpit I built for a 1:20 scale Sopwith Camel......
Building the central console out of plastic card for a B17G
For example....I use different gauges of electrical wire stripped from old TV/radios which can replicate many things in scratch building......like these two 50 caliber MGs....
Here's all the plastic card and wire used to build these guns...
I built this 1:48 scale Yak-3 mainly from balsa wood and paper card...
It can take many months to scratch build one of my models...in fact a 1:20 scale SE5a took me over two years to build!......I have an on going project of a B17G which has taken me nearly 10 years so far!
So to that end the two most important ingredients to scratch building are......time and patience.....luckily I have plenty of both!

Here is a Hispano Suiza engine I built for my SE5a...mainly from pieces of wire and balsa wood.....

Here are a few more examples of my scratch building techniques........

This is a 1:30 scale Westland Lysander Pilots seat........
Here is a auxiliary generator for a B17 Flying Fortress
Built from scrap plastic and wire ....here is a 1:20 scale ball turret for a B17G
These are only a few of my scratch building techniques...........
